Martha F. Thompson, PE, F.NSPE

Martha Thompson has over 21 years of experience performing, managing and directing environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects as an environmental consultant.  She is a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio, and has conducted or supervised hundreds of environmental site assessments (ESAs) at commercial and industrial properties.  Her expertise includes assembling multi-disciplinary teams of professionals on a wide variety of due diligence projects to achieve time-sensitive transactions and she has experience effectively managing ESAs for large portfolio-based transactions on commercial and industrial properties.  Over her career, Ms. Thompson has served a variety of clients, including large automotive manufacturers, suppliers, attorneys, and the food and beverage industry.  Her experience with more traditional contaminant investigation projects includes designing, implementing and managing remedial investigations to characterize the nature and extent of contamination, and developing site-specific remedies in collaboration with stakeholders and regulatory agencies.  Ms. Thompson’s focus on achieving case closure or other regulatory milestones through cost control and effective management of continuing obligations has brought significant value to clients and earned the appreciation of regulators.  Her responsibilities include management of engineering and environmental services for Bowser-Morner’s Toledo office.

Ms. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering in November 1995 from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. Her early career experience included a significant amount of site investigation field work and remedial construction oversight, including municipal utility inspection.  Ms. Thompson’s most recent consulting work focused on environmental assessments and remediation, particularly those associated with real estate transactions and portfolio management.  To support Bowser-Morner’s valued clients, she has expanded her professional horizons with project responsibilities related to wetland delineation, storm water management, and 401/404 permitting.  Ms. Thompson currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Ohio (ACEC Ohio), is the state scholarship chairperson and a Fellow of the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) and a Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).  She has served at the highest levels of MSPE, most notably the first two-term state President in the organization’s history.  She is actively involved with multiple MSPE committees and several MATHCOUNTS competitions in southeast Michigan.  In the past, she has served as the Michigan House of Delegates representative and as a member of the candidate screening and membership committees for NSPE.  She is also a member of the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals.

Martha is proud to have been born and raised in Flint, Michigan, the oldest daughter of two public school teachers.  She lives in Temperance, Michigan.  Away from the office, Martha enjoys relaxing with family and friends, entertaining her twin niece and nephew, following the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, improving her golf game (this will take a lifetime of work), playing cards, visiting farmers markets, cooking, baking, or reading.
