Site Selection and Evaluation

Long before a project can be designed and built, an appropriate site must be selected. Our team of experienced geotechnical engineers, geologists and industry professionals can provide valuable assistance to Owners, Developers and Design-Builders as they evaluate prospective sites for development. Site selection services include:

  • Preliminary assessments of project site(s) based on our extensive knowledge of regional subsurface conditions.
  • Preliminary foundation design and constructability information based on historical soil boring records, historical mapping and research into previous site activities.
  • Preliminary soil explorations and/or test pit studies to assess current site conditions.
  • Assistance in evaluating soil borrow and material alternatives
  • Assistance in developing appropriate geotechnical field and laboratory exploration scopes to minimize construction and design risks.

Subsurface Exploration Services

As projects progress from the conceptual phase into design, Bowser-Morner provides comprehensive subsurface exploration services to sample the soil and rock conditions that will impact design and construction.

Our in-house drilling crews operate a versatile array of subsurface exploration equipment that allows us to efficiently and safely perform geotechnical explorations across a wide variety of terrains (land, water, ice) and environments (rural, urban, highway, industrial, hazmat). And, because we own our own fleet of rigs (Truck-mounted, ATV-mounted, and SONIC), we have better control over project cost, schedule, and quality.

Based on the results of subsurface evaluations, our experts provide detailed recommendations for site development, foundations, floor slabs, pavements, utilities, earth retention systems, retaining walls, slopes and other site features.
