Thia Marie Light is Materials Engineer in Bowser-Morner's Toledo Construction Services department. She has worked in the construction materials and special inspections field since 2008, and has previous experience in Environmental Science and Land Development. As department manager, she coordinates the technicians, engineers and laboratory resources that support projects, assists clients with the preparation of special inspections qualifications and budget estimates, and reviews both field and laboratory reports prior to submission to project stakeholders.
She has a Bachelors in Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and passed her engineering intern exam in preparation to take the P.E. exam. Since moving to NW Ohio she has also obtained both NRMCA Concrete
Technologist Level 3 (Mix Design Development) and Level 4 (Durability)
certifications.
Thia enjoys working on a variety of projects. Prior to moving to Ohio in 2018, she worked in the Northern Virginia / Washington, DC area on contracts ranging from Transportation projects, Infrastructure upgrades, Grade school and University Education buildings, Government Buildings including military base work and embassies, large high-rise buildings, new warehouse type buildings and water treatment plant expansion / renovation work. Her recent project work in NW Ohio has included a new 2.8 million SF online retailer fulfillment center in Rossford, OH and a new flat glass plant in Wood County, Ohio.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her son, her big dog and her husband (we're not sure who her favorite is) and she enjoys pastimes such as reading and cross-stitch crafts.
