Proven engineering expertise for freshwater impoundments

Private owners and government entities turn to Bowser-Morner for innovative engineering solutions for regulated damns, lakes, and other freshwater impoundments. We offer the expertise to design, maintain, and remediate impoundments throughout the course of their operating life.

Impoundment Design, Permitting, and Remediation

For more than 30 years, the team of engineers and planners at Bowser-Morner has worked to develop cost-effective, innovative designs for freshwater impoundments regulated by the Ohio and Kentucky Departments of Natural Resources or other regulatory agencies. Beyond initial engineering and design work, our teams provide consulting and service to maintain the impoundments and ensure ongoing operations.

Our services include:

  • Freshwater impoundment design
  • Permitting for regulated impoundments
  • Hydrology analyses and site investigations
  • Impoundment design modifications and upgrades
  • Remedial design to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Dam embankment and spillway observations and evaluations

Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for Class 1 High Hazard Impoundments

Where required by regulation, Bowser-Morner engineers create detailed Emergency Action Plans for use in the event of a catastrophic failure of the impoundment. Our team uses state-of-the-art computer modeling to develop inundation maps and draws on years of knowledge and expertise to identify the potential downstream impact of a water emergency. Our goal is to develop sound, comprehensive EAPs that keep you compliant while protecting people and resources in the event of an emergency.
